Of the 48 looks teetering out on needle-sharp stilettos in the Saint Laurent show, only 12 didn’t have breasts front and center (and of those 12, three were minidresses with their own built-in garter belts to attach to the stockings below). Forget about the practicality of making a pantyhose dress, or the question of who would want to wear it in the first place. Maybe at one point, when Yves Saint Laurent was first pushing boundaries and making a sheer blouse back in 1966, so much visible skin was a shocking, subversive thing in public or on a fashion runway. Maybe in the beginning it was empowering: an escape from the prison of old mores and outdated gender rules.

Burberry said spending by Chinese luxury consumers had shifted overseas from mainland China. Tourist growth benefited European destinations, it said, with just over half of spending in the region coming from international visitors. But a weak performance in the Americas worsened in the quarter, with comparable store sales down 10%.

Dior announced Bohan's death Friday, calling him an “immense visionary and passionate creator" who left his mark on the fashion house. “Marc Bohan was a unique creator dear to the heart of our House, infusing Dior elegance with his free spirit," Delphine Arnault, Dior CEO, said in a statement. Leaving behind Dior, Bohan moved to London where he joined the prestigious house of Norman Hartnell, a couturier for Britain's royal family.

☆ Alarming video shows flash mob robbery targeting the same Nordstrom that was hit two years ago

Over the weekend, a Nordstrom in a Los Angeles mall was a repeat target for a "flash mob" robbery. Up to $100,000 of merchandise was stolen, days after a similar robbery in the Los Angeles area. In 2021, the Nordstrom store was also the target of a flash mob robbery. The term "flash mob" has been associated with flash mob dances, but has since taken on new meaning when associated with organized burglaries conducted by large groups. The Los Angeles Police Department said the losses from the Saturday burglary at Nordstrom were estimated to be from $60,000 to $100,000 in merchandise.

Kering, the French luxury goods company that owns brands like Balenciaga, Alexander McQueen and Yves Saint Laurent, surprised the fashion industry this week when it announced a sweeping reorganization of its top ranks, including the departure of Marco Bizzarri, the longtime chief executive of Gucci, Kering’s premier brand.
